HAACHAMA COOKING SIMULATOR is a free horror simulation video game wherein you get to play as the alter ego of Japanese VTuber Akai Haato named “Haachama” during her cooking show. Developed by zyo sylver, this cute-looking 2D cooking game is a fanmade game created in celebration of the Akai Haato Hololive fanbase reaching the one million subscriber milestone on YouTube. Since it stars the creepy Haachama as the main character, expect psychological horror elements here.

Akai Haato is a female Japanese Virtual YouTuber associated with hololive, a Virtual Idol agency for VTubers. She’s part of hololive’s first generation of VTubers and is well-known for having a split-personality character called “Haachama.” Gags regarding this persona often deal in bouts of creepiness as Haachama displays an unsettlingly insane personality and sometimes even clashes with Akai. The VTuber has become quite popular despite this, and eventually reached the 1 million YouTube subscribers milestone.
To celebrate this achievement, HAACHAMA COOKING SIMULATOR was created and features Haachama as the playable character. Here, you will get to do her fan-favorite cooking show, wherein the results of her work are often disastrous and comical. The gameplay is simple: choose ingredients to drop into the cooking pot to create a unique soup that other characters will taste-test. Different total score conditions will trigger different endings. However, this game is not for the faint of heart.
There are actually psychological horror elements here, as managing to catch a certain ingredient that Haachama had gone viral for will trigger the route to the horror ending. You’ll get creepy visual effects that are similar to what you’ll find in Akai Haato’s streams wherein Haachama is meddling. However, you will need to be quite knowledgeable about the Haachama lore, as there are tons of references here that were taken from her live-streams.
The fourth wall won’t protect you
All in all, HAACHAMA COOKING SIMULATOR is a nice little horror game if you happen to be a fan of Akai Haato or fourth-wall-breaking psychological horror games, in general. The game controls are easy as you’ll mostly just be clicking on the screen selecting ingredients and choosing action buttons. However, to fully appreciate the game, you will need to know almost everything about Akai Haato’s Haachama persona.
